As of September 22, 2025, Dun & Bradstreet will improve the Failure Score for companies in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. This updated score provides a better prediction of bankruptcy risks and is automatically applied in various D&B products.

Why this update?
The business environment in Switzerland is constantly changing. New data sources are added, existing sources disappear, and the composition of the business landscape shifts. To continue to provide reliable risk assessments, Dun & Bradstreet has updated the scoring model behind the Failure Score.
The new Swiss Failure Score uses sophisticated algorithms and more up-to-date data, such as payment behaviour, industry-specific risks, and external signals. This allows risky companies to be identified more quickly and accurately. Even if there is no recent activity, scores can change due to the more sensitive structure of the model.
What does the Failure Score do?
The Failure Score predicts the likelihood that a company will cease operations within 12 months due to financial problems. This could involve bankruptcy, liquidation, or another form of business closure. The score uses data such as payment behaviour, company structure, sector information, and external signals from the D&B Data Cloud.
Who does this score apply to?
The updated score is applied to approximately 825,000 active Swiss companies. The following groups are not included in the scoring:
- Foreign companies registered in Switzerland;
- Branches of local companies;
- Business forms and sectors that cannot legally go bankrupt;
- Companies that have already been dissolved or recently declared insolvent.
What does this mean for your company?
Do you use Swiss DUNS numbers in your portfolio or do you monitor companies in Switzerland? If so, you can expect to see an increase in score changes from the end of September onwards. The new Failure Score will be automatically applied to all companies that are eligible for it. You may also notice changes in data exports or portfolio comparisons.
The new Failure Score for Switzerland will be implemented during the weekend of September 19, 2025, and will be visible in all D&B products starting September 22, 2025. All Swiss records will receive the updated score within two weeks. If you have any questions, please contact customer service or your account manager.
