Frequently Asked Questions about Artificial Intelligence

Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) has the largest analytical database in the Benelux, with over 20 years of detailed company data. The database includes company identification data (such as Chamber of Commerce and KBO numbers), demographic data (such as the age and legal form of the company), financial data (such as annual reports), payment behavior data (based on DunTrade), bankruptcy information, and negative indicators (such as RSZ data in Belgium).

The D&B historical database provides valuable insights for credit research. The image to the side shows a historical overview of the stability of D&B Credit Ratings, demonstrating that the system consistently predicts 75% of bankruptcies, regardless of the economic situation. The other image below illustrates how the volatility of business risks varies by credit rating and industry sector, using the CAPM model applied to bankruptcy rates from 2003-2020.

D&B has recently developed new AI-driven scoring systems that combine traditional scorecards with AI technology for improved predictive performance. These systems are modular, allowing for flexibility and customization to meet specific business needs, which enhances predictive power and compliance with regulations (such as the EU AI Act). Additionally, specific algorithms ensure the controllability and explainability of the AI.

D&B is working on the development of generative and self-maintaining credit scoring systems. These systems will be capable of automatically generating the optimal structure for predictive models using advanced AI techniques such as feature engineering and neural networks. This will lead to even more accurate and efficient risk analysis and credit decisions, while maintaining explainability and logical consistency.
